I know that I promised this post a while back, but now it's finally being posted! So, I think we can all agree that grapefruits are good for you and delicious as well, but you can't exactly eat them like you would an orange. And many people have huge objections to consuming the white parts as well. Well this grapefruit consumption technique fits all those needs! Below you'll find step by step instructions.
- First, you must cut off the top and bottom of the fruit.
- Then, with a pairing knife you're going to remove the skin starting at the top and finishing off each peel at the bottom. Try doing this without removing a ton of the fruit beneath. You'll get better the more you do this, it takes a bit of practice to get good at it.
- Remove all the skin until this is what you're left with.
- Cut each segment out by cutting along the super convenient white lines. Do this until all the segments have been removed.
I like having this with oranges (cut the same way). The ratio that I prefer is 2 oranges for every 1 grapefruit. Once all the fruit is in a bowl I add 1-2 tablespoons of sugar and then it's gone.
Keep in mind that this technique is also great for adding citrus to green salads. Hope you found this useful!
