know how // iced green tea

I plan on doing a post on the benefits of drinking green tea in the near future, but for now let me just say you should do it, because it's great.  BUT, I recently haven't been in the mood to drink it hot.  As it gets warmer cravings for hot chocolate and cider go out the window, so we replace these with cold drinks.  I've never really had iced tea because I don't do caffeine (I drink decaf green tea), but I decided to take my green tea and make it ICED!

This really is incredibly simple and probably doesn't warrant a post, but here we are.  I make a quart of this each time, so you'll want:
  • 4 green teabags
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tbsp honey (or whatever sweetener you like to use)
Heat up the water as you would normally, either in a kettle or in the microwave.  Put the four teabags into a container that will fit 4 cups of water.  Add the honey as well.  Pour in the water once it's heated and then let it sit and brew (stirring periodically).  If you want you can place it right into your pitcher once you think it's brewed and stick it in the fridge, but I like it to brew until it's room temperature.  Pour the mixture into your pitcher and refrigerate.  Once it's cold you can serve it over ice.

Here's the fun part!  Mix up your iced green tea adventures by adding in different juices.  Personally I am loving a good Arnold Palmer (1 part tea, 1 part lemonade), it is so incredibly refreshing!  Also, I've tried it with orange juice which is also great.  I really want to try adding pomegranate juice one of these days.  Get fun and creative!

Also, don't be afraid to try your favorite herbal tea iced as well.  I'm sure not all translate well, but I bet many of them would be oh so delicious iced.
